Event Details

Liz Gilbert had everything a modern woman is supposed to dream of having - a husband, a house, a successful career - yet like so many others, she found herself lost, confused, and searching for what she really wanted in life.  Newly divorced and at a crossroads, Gilbert steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life, embarking on a journey around the world that becomes a quest for self-discovery. In her travels, she discovers the true pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of true love in IndonesiaClick here.

Join us for an evening of friendship, fabulous food and an amazing movie that celebrates the resilient woman in all of us…EAT PRAY LOVE.

Proceeds benefit Pleasant Hill-based Green for Pink (www.GreenForPink.org), devoted to supporting Diablo Valley women business owners during their medical treatments and throughout the recovery process.

EAT…bring your girlfriends and dine at one of Diablo Valley’s newest restaurant treasures, Shaadzee Bistro Bakery in Pleasant Hill, where amazing owners Farhad and Stella have prepared a special tapas menu celebrating the movie’s three I’s – epicurean delights from India, Italy and Indonesia.  And did we mention the evening’s special sangria!

PRAY…Praying that someone else is safely fending to your children and pets for the night, following dinner enjoy the opening viewing of the new Julia Roberts’ movie, EAT PRAY LOVE (based on the true story and best-selling book by Elizabeth Gilbert) across the street from the bistro at the Cinemark 16 Pleasant Hill Theater.  A special thank you to our “cinema sister” Lissa!

LOVE …Love the fact that you don’t have to cook for anyone tonight.  And love the fact that every day, millions of women discover the strength to pursue their dreams and reinvent themselves.   Will Friday, August 13th be the beginning of your journey of self-discovery?

Green for Pink (G4P) Nonprofit Organization's mission is to provide support for entrepreneurs who are fighting breast cancer. This organization will be devoted to supporting women business owners during their medical treatments and throughout the recovery process. Since most business owners rarely have disability insurance, they must physically work while receiving medical treatments. In addition to experiencing unexpected complications regarding physical demands, there are substantial emotional and financial stresses too. The goal for G4P is to help keep their businesses afloat while simultaneously allowing them to focus on getting well. G4P support will keep women and their business dreams alive during their wellness journey.
